A Big Catch-Up

Hebrew School has been progressing and our students have been making tremendous progress, each grade on their own level. Aleph Champ, Aleph-Bet Bayit, Torahpedia, and Hands-on Judaism have been filling up our Sundays with fun activities and great learning experiences.

With Chanukah approaching, we will continue to focus on Hebrew-reading and language, yet, we will take a break from our other curriculum and shift gears to the Chanukah story, to familiarize each student with the story and customs and most importantly - a sense of Jewish pride!

Please enjoy these photos depicting some of the fun and educational activities which have taken place throughout the past few weeks.

Learning about the High Holidays and traditions - in our new building!

Introducing...Mitvah Missions! Our way to incorporate lessons learned into our daily lives - with a bonus of Torah dollars and weekly drawings.

Apple Pie baking with pastry chef and Hebrew School teacher, Morah Nechama.

 Kitah Aleph makes Sukkot decorations.

 Kitah Bet makes Sukkah City.

Aleph Bet review with Rabbi Avi. We are reading five-letter words with vowels now!

Kitah Bet enjoying a hands-on lesson about Ahavat Yisroel, the commandment to love each Jew. During this activity, each student described his or her candle, ignited their neighbors candle, and then proceeded to learn how essentially, we are all the same despite external differences for we each have a soul ignited by G-d, just as each candle shares a spark from one original candle. We learned to focus on the similarities between each other rather than on the differences and came up wiyth practical solutions to various scenarios which would challenge our 'Ahavat Yisroel" and our ability to love and respect our brethren.

Hebrew school is a BLAST!

We all literally had a blast on our first day of Hebrew School. All students thoroughly enjoyed the Shofar Factory presentation and worked real hard on making a shofar of their own - sanding, smoothing, and shellacking - check them out! Some of our students really mastered the skill of blowing that ram's horn!

Kitah Aleph learned about prayer and started coloring their own siddurim, prayer books. We spoke about the things we are thankful for. Khloe is thankful for Shul and Alex is thankful for tv. We learned about Hashem, who is our King and created this beautiful world we live in and constantly gives us everything we need or want. We know that we can ask Him for anything and speak to Him about whatever is on our mind in any language, any time.

Kitah Bet received their new siddurim, Siddur Sheli, which will reinforce their Hebrew-reading skills. Each family will receive a "Tefillah Trax" cd which coordinates with the prayer book and contains the musical version of each prayer for you to listen to, become familiar with, and practice at home or in the car. Our goal is for your child to walk into a synagogue and be comfortable and familiar with the prayers we sing, not just for now, but forever.

In our short amount of time to learn about all the customs and significance of the upcoming New Year, Rosh Hashana, we are focusing on the most important aspects. We have learned about the call of the shofar and about the special time preceding Rosh Hashana. We each made a new resolution for the new year and will be hanging it up on our Hebrew School bulletin board. Each student really contributed something special and each inspired another with their new mitzvah they will do.

To New Beginnings!

Welcome to Chabad Hebrew School!

We are so excited about all the new things we will be adding on to enhance our program this year. We have added on a new class and would like to welcome Morah Nechama to our staff. We introduced our new curriculums including Aleph Bet Bayit, Sidur Sheli, and Torahpedia - all multi-faceted hands-on learning programs and most of all, FUN!

Our Hebrew School students decorated their own backpacks which they will use to carry their school supplies, homework, and Aleph Champ books. Please make sure your children bring it back each week!

We concluded our orientation with a delicious brunch and some time to socialize, catch up , and meet some new faces.
